Bonnaroo Madness ft Aaron LaCrate
This was super duper fun to rock these kids minds for 5 hours. I felt like Eric Morillo or Oakenfold.

Above is the one and only graffiti king of Baltimore in his hey day. Shaken did more damage to Baltimore than any other. He is a true street innovator and original art outlaw in every sense of the word. A complete hell raiser. I used to DJ his parties when I was like 11 years old - lets just say dont drink the electric kool aid, and west baltimore riots they turned out to be more than anything ! Ive been working on a film for the past 10 years documenting the wild bunch of b-more. Hopefully Ill finish it one day.

Interview was in full effect @ Bonnaroo ! Shout out to Antwan ! ! We were in full hippe rave mode ! Super Brll ! !
My old B-more buddy Dj Class catch up to discuss why were both the ISH..

While jamming at Bonnaroo Nyc's super cool mag Blackbook asked me to draw a little festival inspired bit, they had markers, pastels, crayons, glitter and the works, I stayed in my comfort zone with the markers, and came up with a cool little doodle. check the link below for more... Thanks BB

We had a great Authentic Sh*t show last friday, Theolophilus London made a special guest interview and amazing in studio performance as he arrived in NYC from London ! Shout out to him, he dropped a few world premiers for us, so best to check the stream below, Then my homegirl MNDR stepped up on the club tip and we made a song live on the air, she killed it and then Mr London came back and jumped on B-more Gutter track and they both ripped it. Save this show kids as these artists are set to blow and this was a really fun LaCrate session. VIdeo coming soonish. SHOUT TO ALEXANDER !

Wow, someone sent this to me, a super rare, ultra limited (2) ever made, New Era Gutter fitted. I have the other 1 and this is its pair. We had no idea this hat had a relative so were celebrating !

The Ny Times claims that hipsters are leaving Brooklyn at record numbers and moving back in with Mom and Dad and that 90% of all hipsters rent and expenses have been paid by parents! I had no idea to be honest. A very interesting read indeed..
then Dr Dre takes a swipe at hipster Djs..

Since summer jam is today and i couldnt make it i thought id share something Summer jammy !

Tune into Authentic Shit Friday night from 8 to 10 p.m. ET, when special guest Aaron LaCrate takes over the decks for two hours of his best. Regular listeners are no doubt familiar with Aaron and his self-described "B-More Gutter Music," and also with his friend Alexander, whom Aaron has brought in as his mixing partner the last few times he's been on the show. Alexander Dexter-Jones has been gaining his rep the old-fashioned way, by DJing at private parties all over NYC and the environs. He's trading on his rock-solid turntable skills rather than the connections bestowed by family members like his father, UK rock royalty Mick Jones (the one from Foreigner, not the one from the Clash), or for that matter, his half-brother Mark Ronson, host of Authentic Shit. Listen to what Aaron and Alexander cook up tonight.
Fast Eddie is the man.

This is a scary statistic but a regular reality in Baltimore, currently back as the murder capitol of America.

My good homeys from Stockholm the SNS sneaker pimps, were celebrating 10 years of business, and being leaders of the sneaker craze - so they had a huge blowout featuring all the dopest Swedish Mcs, Biz Markie, Aaron LaCrate + Debonair Samir. Was a super fun weekend as the pics show they had a champagne open bar all night Cristal ! Biz is another secret Baltimore record shopper who bought loads of Music Liberated stuff. Biz ended up jacking my entire club set - ! check the live footage here!

The godfather of hip hop, Bambaattaa who has been playing every genre of music since the 70s, is the creator of the Zulu Nation and hip hop culture. A global icon - so it was great to finally meet up him in LA and rock a party together. We both killed it, and there were thousands in there rocking out.
The best of best. People dont know that Baambaataa has been record shopping in B-more for many years and was a usual at Music Liberated (RIP) where he would buy stacks of B-more Club records, that he has been playing world wide for years..
This was a crazy night !
Awe yeah.. Classic Material - Get the gas face,,
Mz Streamz has won 3 weeks in a row on Baltimore's premier radio station 92Q - The people have voted and the winner is Mz Streamz ! Check the video !!

Check out Mz Streamz in the new Dazed magazine, she gives a run down of her current projects, remixs, and thoughts on females in the game. Streamz is in a league all her own. Her debut EP " Vegetable Money " out soon Milkcrate Records.
Gonna be a hot summer..

I held down East Village Radio last Friday for Mark - which is always a blast, however this Friday we had some special guests in the studio, EVR is NYC;s closest thing to pirate radio. We had Oscar 1992, MALUCA, Swizz Beatz, and Alex Dexter Jones special guest DJ set, such a funky bunch of NYC people. Check the link here - classic NYC summer stylee..

When I first started Milkcrate back in the day Eminem and the Shady crew were some of the first to take notice. It was so exciting to have a new brand and have Eminem wearing Milkcrate, during his rise to fame. 10 years later ! WOW.

Keeping with the theme of famous Milkcrate Athletics collaboration t-shirts - this one is so funny. So we booked Cool Kids for YOYO NYC ages before they blew up and they asked me to make them a collabo t-shirt before the CD dropped, which of course I did, and now they are super COOL, the power of a t-shirt, I tell you its amazing.

NME is one of my favorite magazine for new music, so when they asked me to actually write for them, i had to step back and say this is official. So i wrote about all my favorite things past and present of Baltimore music, needless to say the Milkcrate Records crew came to mind first - but I spread the love round, to say the least. Anyhow now I am available as a journalist as well - so any cool mags hit me up.

The good folks at XXL have shouted us out - full stream ahead...
B-more Club Crack is in the building..

Cool for the summer... the newest webshop MILKCRATE GUTTER-SHOP coming soon. The best in everything street, all the new Millkcrate Athletics gear, Cds, mp3's, downloads, books, and more of those special collabo's, from the only underground brand left in the game...
Summer 09... watch this space...
Check the original Swine Flu....
Shout out to Dirtee Stank - they got another one..
Effing excellent

I got asked to drop some tunes for Kanye and only had but a few in the laptop, so we all improvised along with his drummer and keyboard dude and put on a crazy show, Good Life, Love Lock Down, Heartless, Cant tell nothing, and more, cutting off the record with live drums and keyboard only, then cutting back into the original, we had no instrumentals. Then Plain Pat came thru with his computer, and I had the flash drive and we worked some magic. Kanye is def on top of his show game. Shout out to the whole crew that night, Perez, Amber Rose, Cudi, Mano and all the rest of the super cool West posse. The crowd went wild!

Please pay attention to Ripley - his tracks smash together the best bits of dubstep, club, and other good ish, maybe we will call it Clubstep.. Ripley has created his own genre already, wow ! ! Check him out on RINSE FM londons premier underground radio..... Ripley EP coming soon on MILKCRATE.... HAHAHAH! ! !

Proving once and for all that drugs and violence are both very cool individually, and that when put together they're an indestructibly edgy intertwined force of coolness, Baltimore has risen to staggering levels of hip cache of the past 12 months or so.
In clubbing terms, B'more's been re-heating up as one of the most influential circuits around. The massive resurgence of the style known simply as 'Baltimore club' has been employed as a staple by the likes of Diplo and MIA, turning DJ sets across the globe into a bludgeoning tirade of fierce-as-fuck rolling breakbeats, air raid sirens, pistol-whippin' emcee slogans and clockwork 'whoops' and 'yeahs'.
It's been around for yonks, with the likes of Scottie B and Big Tony pioneering the first wave of Miami bass-influenced hip-house fusions in the early Nineties,
but thanks to the entrepreneurial endeavors of chaps like Spank Rock, Amanda Blank and Mr Aaron La Crate with his Milkcrate record/fashion label, the sound has been given a new lease of life, or seen as we're talking about 'murdaland' Baltimore here, a new lease of death, maybe.
Aaron has given us an exclusive download to give away. It's a cut he produced with his new gun MC Verb, who sounds like a lovely chap. He told me it's becoming something of a "street anthem", to which I responded with a enthusiastic nod, but secretly it made me feel woefully middle-class and British deep inside.
It's released soon on a new compilation delightfully entitled 'B'More Crack'. It's called 'Down The Hill'. You can download it here.

Now is the time for B-more club sound
Energetic, sample-based sound eludes easy labels with its raw, explicit lyrics, aggressive beat
By Rashod D. Ollison
March 29, 2009
It is the most unrelenting, the most frenetic, the most unapologetically explicit hip-hop sub-genre the country has produced in the past two decades.
The attacking beats of B-more club music have remained a mostly provincial sensation in that time. Over the years, nightspots, including some seedy joints, in Baltimore and throughout the mid-Atlantic region have served as incubators for the turgid mix of concussive kick drums, fire alarmlike synths and profane chants.
Only in the last few years has B-more club music generated some national buzz. But, still, the sound hasn't achieved a major breakthrough, not in the way the Atlanta-grown crunk sound did.
Just when it seemed B-more club was about to reach prominence in the region and beyond, its "queen," popular 92Q personality Khia "K-Swift" Edgerton, died in a swimming pool accident.
But in the eight months since her death, two DJs, Highlandtown native Aaron LaCrate and West Baltimore-bred Daniel "DJ Class" Woodis, have been carrying the torch, so to speak.
Both have recently signed major-label deals and will receive worldwide distribution of their new compilations. Earlier this month, LaCrate and his production partner Debonair Samir released B-More Club Crack, their debut for Koch Records, the largest independent label in the United States.

weve made it!

Had the good fortune of opening up for these cool dudes last week courtesy of the W hotel. It was a really dope evening for all. Shout out to Bryan Michael Cox in the building making hits. Julia Stiles was doing the wop "an early hip hop dance". So good..

The big homey Semtex was in NYC rocking with the best for his BBC radio show. Mz Streamz and Verb dropped the science on why they are B-more's starting two !
Biggie is still the best MC dead or alive, whichever choose one!
This should be pressed on wax - or WAV!! this would kill the club..

This is going to be BIG - Samir's first time in Stockholm ! !
Get Ready !
#1 competition is none..Baltimores Princess. 17 year old Mz Streamz is sure going to shake things up in CLubland,

Ah my good old buddy, Lily Allen, so many fun times touring around the USA with her, she is one of a kind thats for sure. The above tee is for her first USA tour ever, with Mark and I opening up and warming up the crowds for her. Such a rare time in musical history - theres only one first tour after that it all becomes a blur. However this ultra rare t-shirt is super cool, also her first t-shirt collabo ever. As you can see these posts are all about first times.
